EarthSaave SLC Vegan Thanksgiving

Hello SLC EarthSavers! Please join us this Wednesday, November 12th from 7-9 pm for our monthly vegan cooking demo & potluck. Featured on the menu will be Faux Turkey Roast, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Festive Cranberry Relish, & Pumpkin Pie. Immediately following the demo, we will start with the potluck, so bring your favorite plant-based dish to share! (And the recipe or list of ingredients). We will be meeting at Sunflower Farmer's Market, located at 6284 South State Street, right across the street from Fashion Place Mall (where Ultimate Electronics used to be), from 7-9 PM. The class will be upstairs (just follow the signs in the store). ALSO, please support our friends from Ching Farm Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Their annual Vegan Thanksgiving Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, November 16th at the Sugarhouse Garden Center, located at 1602 E 2100 S. Doors open at 4 pm, dinner starts at 5 pm. Hello SLC EarthSavers & Friends! Join EarthSave on Wednesday, October 8th for this month's demo, Vegan Mediterranean. Featured on the menu will be Greek Salad, Dolmas, and Baklava (yum!). We will be meeting at Sunflower Farmer's Market, located at 6284 South State Street, right across the street from Fashion Place Mall (where Ultimate Electronics used to be), from 7-9 PM. The class will be upstairs (just follow the signs in the store). In addition to the cooking demo, we will also have a potluck. You are invited to bring your favorite plant-based dish (please, no dairy, eggs, meat or other animal-derived ingredients) its recipe or ingredient list, and as many friends as you can gather! As a result, the cooking class portion of the event will be shortened, but there will be no shortage of food-there will always be plenty for everyone to enjoy. No worries if you are unable to bring a potluck dish to share for whatever reason-we still want you to come & participate! The more the merrier :)

EarthSave SLC Update!

Hello SLC EarthSavers! Starting on Wednesday, September 10th (and every 2nd Wednesday thereafter, with exception to December, as there is already a different class scheduled on that day), EarthSave cooking classes will resume at a new location, Sunflower Farmer's Market. It is located at 6284 South State Street, right across the street from Fashion Place Mall (where Ultimate Electronics used to be). They will continue to be taught from 7-9 pm, and they will continue to be free. We realize that it is a bit further away than it's previous location (for us too), but hopefully this won't prevent you from participating. For those that wanted potlucks to return, you are in luck! Feel free to bring your favorite plant-based dish (please, no dairy, eggs, meat or other animal-derived ingredients) its recipe or ingredient list, and as many friends as you can gather! As a result, the cooking class portion of the event will be shortened, but there will be no shortage of food-there will always be plenty for everyone to enjoy. No worries if you are unable to bring a potluck dish to share for whatever reason-we still want you to come & participate! The more the merrier :) As usual, a reminder will be sent out a few days before each cooking demo/potluck. The demo for September will be Substitutions (basically vegan ingredients you can use to replace those pesky non-vegan ingredients in your favorite recipes). There will be corresponding recipes (and plenty of samples) for each substitution discussed. Future of Vegan Cooking Classes at Whole Foods (Please read)

Hello EarthSavers! Today, I was informed by the Marketing Manager of Whole Foods that they are completely revamping their class program. They are switching gears and focusing on fewer classes but putting more behind them so they have a bigger impact for their customers and a better use of the money they spend. So with that, they wont be scheduling any additional Ching Farm or Earthsave classes at this time for the Downtown or Sugarhouse stores. (There is a different marketing manager for the Ft Union and Park City stores). They say that perhaps *if* they have it in their budget in the future, that they can discuss holding the classes again, but in the meantime, they are going with their new program that is a more efficient use of their resources. As it stands right now, there is no EarthSave class scheduled for next week :( However, I will see what I can do to hold them elsewhere (may not take effect until October), and perhaps it will be a place where we can also return to having potlucks as well. If you have any ideas, please respond to this email and I will get back to you as soon as possible! Just a quick note to remind everyone that EarthSave SLC will have a booth at this year's Live Green Sustainability Fair at the Downtown SLC Public Library from 10 am - 6pm. Our booth is located just west of the main stage, directly in front of the reflecting pool. We have a couple of prizes to give away, just for coming down and joining the festivities :) (And we could still use some volunteers too, and if you have some free time to help out, you will get a little something for your efforts) Thanks for all you do!
